INTERNATIONAL DAY AGAINST RACISM – THE CHILDREN HUG ACROPOLIS

21/3/2014
INTERNATIONAL DAY AGAINST RACISM – THE CHILDREN HUG ACROPOLIS
March 21st is the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, the International Day against racism.

It was established in 1966 by the United Nations General Assembly to commemorate a tragic event known as the Sharpeville massacre, for which responsible was the racist South African regime.

It was early in the morning of March 21st 1960, when a group of 5,000 to 7,000 black protesters demonstrating for equal rights (it is worth noting that the black people constituted 90% of the total South African population), started heading towards the police station. By 10 a.m. a crowd of 20,000 protesters had gathered.

SAY NO TO SANCTIMONIOUSNESS AND HYPOCRISY

SAY NO TO SANCTIMONIOUSNESS AND HYPOCRISY
Colleagues,
In this difficult period of time, when everything keeps changing, the Hellenic Post is forced to confront more and more problems, while the employees' conquers and labor rights remain trapped in the danger zone.
The employees are worried about the future, as they can sense the insecurity that dominates every sector of our lives, but they keep on fighting incessantly to protect their jobs, their income and their rights.
News from abroad indicate and confirm that the situation for the postal sector is crucial.

THE “VULTURES” STRIKE AGAIN – THIS TIME USING AS AN EXCUSE THE ALLEGED “PENTHOUSE POSITIONS” OF THE PUBLIC CORPORATIONS AND ORGANIZATIONS (ΔΕΚΟ) AND THE PENSIONS
The black propaganda regarding supposedly privileged insurance categories at the former Public Corporations and Organizations (in Greek ΔΕΚΟ) and special Insurance Funds is once again being implemented, when at the same time the Government is preparing new modifications on insurance laws.

THE HELLENIC POST HIRES TEMPORARY PERSONNEL

11/9/2013
THE HELLENIC POST HIRES TEMPORARY PERSONNEL
Colleagues,
We inform you that the fixed-term contracts for employment of temporary personnel by the Hellenic Post have at last been approved and the relevant procedures will start immediately according to the provisions of law 2190/94, so as to put an end to the difficulties that the Hellenic Post has been facing in terms of services and revenue, due to the lack of personnel.
At long last the competent officers, after the Federation's laborious efforts, have comprehended that the Hellenic Post must be staffed with adequate personnel.
Thus our long-standing claim to cover vacant organic posts at the post offices and the distribution units all over the country has been satisfied.
Colleagues,
The issue of the Hellenic Post staffing has always been and still is crucial for the Organization's mission and future.
Our Syndicate has always aimed to molding a modern, effective and viable Post Organization, which will offer high quality and easily accessible services and which will cater to the Greek citizens all over the country; in order to achieve that, we need adequate staff.

AT THE CAFÉ “HELLAS”
At the café “Hellas”
The illusionist sells his tricks cheap

The chains trick is free
The death leap's only two drachmas
….............Come on, people, come.

A tear costs two eggs
And three drachmas, come on, people, come.

So come on, people….... come to the café “Hellas”.
The lines of the old song describe today's situation.

Greece is in the intensive care unit and the European elite seeks to take us off life support.

INSTITUTE OF LABOURʼS ANNUAL REPORT – LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL AFTER 20 YEARS!

INSTITUTE OF LABOURʼS ANNUAL REPORT – LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL AFTER 20 YEARS!
This morning I read an article referring to the General Confederation of Greek Workersʼ Institute of Laborʼs (in Greek: ΙΝ.Ε. – Γ.Σ.Ε.Ε.) annual Report, which made me realize, once again, that the overall situation and prospects of our economy and society are almost nightmarish.
According to the Institute of Laborʼs annual Report on the Greek Economy, which will be presented by Professor Christos Robolis at the Thessaloniki International Trade Fair, even according to the most optimistic estimates, i.e. an annual increase of the GNP by 3,5 – 4%, it will take at least 20 years for unemployment rates to drop under 10%.

KEEP YOUR COOL! THE EMPLOYEES WILL NOT BE DISORIENTATED!
Colleagues,
With the signing of the HELLENIC POST Collective Employment Agreement 2013-2014 and the decision to implement the immediate action plan, we marked the beginning of a specific dynamic course of action for the next 18 months, the results of which will determine the future of the HELLENIC POST and its employees.
As we mentioned in our previous announcement, we have to start implementing immediately all those decisions that will help prevent deficits, keep the expenses under control and increase earnings, through the development of new services.

ANNOUNCEMENT: HELLENIC POST COLLECTIVE EMPLOYMENT AGREEMENT 2013-2014
The signing of the HELLENIC POST Collective Employment Agreement on Monday, June 10th 2013 completed the most important item in P.O.S.T.ʼs action plan, as had been decided by the competent bodies of the movement.
The signing of the HELLENIC POST Collective Employment Agreement 2013-2014 at a time most crucial for the future of the HELLENIC POST and its employees, means that a new, more positive framework is now in place.
With the signing of the HELLENIC POST Collective Employment Agreement 2013-2014 we achieved the establishment of a program of immediate actions, that aim to secure the income of the employees as well as the viability and profitability of the HELLENIC POST.

THE PROBLEMS INFLATE, THE HELLENIC POST STAGNATES AND ITS OFFICERS MAKE A SHOW OF DOING OTHER THINGS

1/4/2013
THE PROBLEMS INFLATE, THE HELLENIC POST STAGNATES AND ITS OFFICERS MAKE A SHOW OF DOING OTHER THINGS
The last semester, the Hellenic Post was moved by the force of inertia and the patriotism of the employees, as the responsible were exclusively involved in the process of changing the management of the Hellenic Post, a process that began in September and was concluded in February! They were never preoccupied with solving the problems of the post office, problems that were intensified and culminated with the postal market linearization, which although legislated in March 2012, so far the necessary decisions that will determine the operational framework are not issued.
Thus, the Hellenic Post has undertaken the enormous cost of the lost revenue, let alone the recession and the decline of the postal work which has been literally stolen by the competitive firms.

GREECE 2013… FOR A FOOD BAG…

12/2/2013
GREECE 2013… FOR A FOOD BAG…
When in June 2010 Greece was becoming the spearhead of the European crisis, by signing the first "Loan Facility", nobody could have imagined, not even the "architects" of austerity policies that our 'journey' was about to become a "journey of despair" that would lead to the impoverishment of the country and the working people.
Nowadays, the failed policies of the unilateral austerity are evident more than ever.
A population which is becoming "prey to the flames", on the altar of large financial interests.

NONSENSE OR FEASIBILITIES

14/1/2013
NONSENSE OR FEASIBILITIES
Dear Colleagues,
While P.O.S.T. is putting up a frontal attack in difficult political and financial circumstances in order to prevent any dismissals in the Hellenic Post, to prevent the Organismʼs selling out, to arm our institutional framework, to secure our conquests, for the viability of the Organism, some are still living in the era of secularism and immaturity.
During the last period, more and more appear publications or rumors are disseminated from so called knowing and experts in various matters that concern both the prospect of the Hellenic Post and –mostly- the employees.

THE POST ON SALES...

THE POST ON SALES...
ANNOUNCEMENT
Experiencing for fourth year in a row a big economic recession, which in our sector is multiple and having to confront the liberalization of the postal market in just four months, the Government (Interministerial Privatization Committee) and the supporting parties-ignoring the significance and the role of the Public Post in the financial, social, cultural and peripheral development of the country- announced during the summer holidays in August (complying faithfully with the political morals and the practices of the last eight years) the selling of all shares of the Hellenic Post owned by the Greek State and authorized the Fund of Utilization of the Public Sectorʼs Private Property to design, decide and materialize the “diagnostic” procedure.
