Every 17th of November our heart is travelling at the rebellion night, the night that values as freedom, life, love and piece were becoming a banner in the hands of 20 years old immature boys and girls.
Our heart is kneeling at the gate of Polytechnic University, where the history of a whole generation was written.
There where people and memories convulsed with their greatness.
“UNIVERSITY HERE. THE STATION OF FREE BESIEGED STUDENTS IS SPEAKING…”
Young people crowed behind the railings, with outstretched arms “without rifles and swords, with the sun on forehead, heroes and poets at the same time…”
“Nice kids of our own
with big eyes
with the great grief of the brave ones…”
Voices, slogans, hopes, dreams, all together shuffled, a celebration,
“Behind the railings, thousands are free
Behind the bars thousands are dreaming
In front of the railings, frightened slaves…”
2.45 Saturday morning, the sound of caterpillar muffles the voices, the songs. The gate falls. Cries, pain, blood and then silence…
“When they are killed, life draws the uphill with flags and drums…”
39 years after, the memory is still alive and the messages, the slogans of the revolution are more than ever well-timed.
In the Greece of Memoranda, in the Greece of crisis, of 1.5 million of unemployed, of the continuing economic deterioration and the brutal austerity, we have to act.
And this action is nothing more than our FIGHT for our share of bread, education, freedom.
All together, united, in the fight for our lives, for our future, for our children to have their own sun.
“…when tightening the hand, the sun is certain of the world.”
