On Monday 24 April, after many years of effort, the Hellenic Post is officially among the most powerful “players” in the Greek electricity market.
Our Organization’s strategic decision to enter the electric power sector aims on one hand at benefiting from its liberalization and on the other at dealing in the best possible way with the repercussions of the economic crisis, the differentiation of the postal services on a global scale and the liberalization of the Greek postal market.
The vast brick-and-mortar and distribution networks through which the Hellenic Post reaches every single household and citizen in our country on a daily basis as well as the recognisability of our brand are among the competitive advantages which make it certain that we will earn an important share of this specific market.
Even today, the Greek Public Power Corporation (DEI) controls most of the electric power retail market with a share of 90% approximately, which, however, according to EU anti-trust legislation, it is bound to reduce to 75% until 2018 and to 50% until the end of 2019.
Taking into consideration that the Greek electricity market amounts to 6 billion € annually, the above change will allow companies involved in this specific sector (more than 20 today) to claim their fair share of the 3 billion in the next two and a half years. The Greek Public Power Corporation’s (DEI) dominance in the above market is not comparable with the position of the Hellenic Post in the sector of postal services, as the latter controls only half of it. All the above make it evident that claiming a cut in the electricity market is a significant venture for our Organization, which will have to face intense competition.
The prices offered by the Hellenic Post to attract new clients are the most competitive in the market and constitute a powerful tool for all our employees, who should make it their mission to promote these new services offered by our Organization to every household and company in Greece.

Furthermore, you should keep in mind that the Hellenic Post offers extra discounts to all of us who belong to its big family, so that we may directly profit from these new services and comprehend the value of this endeavour for our jobs and our future.
It is a sacred duty for all us members of the postal family, employees as well as pensioners, to actively support this venture.
Within the month of May, our Federation will take initiatives on a central and regional level, so as to promote this project as well as inform and motivate its members to endorse it.
